These wipes are not designed to remove static from any surface or object. If you want to remove static, buy an ESD Ionizer Fan.ESD-Safe wipes are ideal for PCB manufacturing, rework, and repair facilities. They are also suitable for electronic assembly tasks. Both of my tech jobs utilize these for cleaning flux, alcohol, grease, finger prints, and other foreign contaminates off of circuit boards during manufacturing, repair and rework. They are also used to clean solder paste stencils and m…ixer bits for Epoxy encapsulation of electronic devices. Why ESD-Safe wipes? Electronic components both surface mount and through hole technology can be sensitive to electrostatic discharge. You need to utilize wipes that can effectively dissipate charge to protect sensitive electronic components and devices during any assembly and or repair processes.
These are very nice ESD wipes used for cleaning electrical components related to your electronics. They are of a good size and the overall structure is inline with what I would expect here.. Only gripe here is I wish they were resealable as I had to transfer them to a few mylar bags to make sure they kept the clean function long-term. I do like the lines as it makes it easier to cut and divide them for special uses. Well worth it if you need need this type of product for productivity.
These ESD wipes are very nice and large. They are so useful while working on electronics projects.
Expensive but they do a great job. I was wiping down my fathers computer who well...it got to the point where it needed wiped down if that tells you the condition it was in. It's super nice to have the comfort to know that these won't create a static charge and cost me more in repairs while just trying to help out. They completed the job easily and now I have plenty to clean up my own electronics and computer myself.
These anti-static cloths are great! I never knew that you needed special cloths to clean your electronics until now. These work great and they are definitely lint-free. The best part is that you can wash them and re-use them. The package contains A LOT of cloths.
I have used these while repairing circuit boards and have been happy with them so far. They are plenty large and don't catch the boards nearly as bad as other cloths I've used. The price is high, but if you work on stuff that is sensitive to ESD, it's expected and plenty justified. Overall, these have been a very useful addition to my electronics workbench.
It’s more of a bother to safely work on electronics than most of us can manage, but that doesn’t mean that static buildup isn’t a serious danger. Consider that the business end of a vacuum or even just shifting in your seat builds up thousands of volts. If even a part of that discharges into one of the vast majority of components in a computer, you technically can’t trust that component ever again. In general, passive components like capacitors and resistors handle brief low-current overvoltage …events much better than ICs, but any spark you can see or feel rules out a low-current event, and ICs are only getting more fragile with time as transistor size continues its inexorable march downward. An add-in card or motherboard ruined by ESD will exhibit issues for the rest of its life. The severity of such issues ranges from intermittent and momentary blips in signaling between components that don’t affect functionality and would only be visible on a connected oscilloscope to sudden and catastrophic cascading hardware failures that kill the computer and everything connected to it. Admittedly the latter scenario is quite unlikely, but it’s also not quite impossible. These anti-ESD wipes come in a physically larger-than-expected pack of 100. They’re best used as part of an existing anti-static workflow, which includes a specialized anti-static wrist strap, mat, and for the real sticklers, clothing. But if you’re like most people and don’t have any of those, then it’ll still be much safer for your electronics to use one of these wipes instead of a regular old paper towel or napkin. The cost is around 50 cents per wipe at the time of review (mid-November 2023), but that’s reasonable for what is still a specialty product. Remember that the goal isn’t to save a few cents but to wipe your electronics clean without damage, perhaps after spraying them with board cleaner, 100% isopropanol, etc., and that these wipes may save parts worth hundreds or thousands of dollars from untimely deaths.Be advised that these wipes aren’t strictly suitable for the most delicate jobs such as cleaning screens and lenses. I’d also have liked to see them come in a sturdy and resealable bag, as finding a way to store 100 1’x1’ squares of cloth takes some modicum of thought. Nevertheless, I recommend these for anyone who works on electronics and regularly gets close enough to bare PCBs to touch them. In a perfect world they’d be considered essential.
Great for cleaning ESD workstations and other ESD sensitive parts. It's definitely overkill if you're buying this just for something like your PC desktop. If you're opening it up and messing with the inside, the priority is having an anti-static mat and wrist strap first bc ESD builds up on the surface AND YOU. That wrist strap is important.Maybe get this if you're messing with the motherboard and you need clean things? In any other case, these wipes are definitely overkill as most components th…e average consumer or hobbyist will mess with have some kind of ESD protection or is not ESD sensitive. It's honestly pretty rare to get ESD damage at all (even with ESD sensitive components), but it does happen, so better safe than sorry. Clean your ESD surfaces, mats, etc. with these wipes. Don't regret it once it's too late...
I use this to wipe clean my laptop screen after a moist wipe was used. I also used this to clean my phone's screen as well. The cloth is thin but feels quite durable. It came in a single bag so it's not individually packaged. The lines are not straight but it doesn't impact the quality. But the cloth is square. I can't say whether these are truly anti-static. But they do not feel like they will generate static as they are very slick. While these did not seem absorbent, they absorbed the… moisture left from my moist wipe on my laptop screen. I don't see any streaks. Overall, a nice cloth.
